On 15-16 December, 2022, the Ferenc M\u00e1dl Institute of Comparative Law, together with the Hungarian Association of Comparative Law, the Society for Children\u2019s Rights within the framework of Children\u2019s Rights Day convened a two-day conference on international childrens\u2019 rights, which took place at the Sapientia College of Theology. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child introducing the definition of the child into the discourse about children\u2019s rights formed the backbone of the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interdisciplinary day held on 15th December was opened by an adult-child roundtable and closed by a civil roundtable led by a child reporter. Between the opening and closing panels child protection professionals shared their ideas in panels titled \u201esafe in church\u201d, \u201esafe at school\u201d, \u201esafe in the family\u201d, safe in the subsidiary protection system\u201d about how to improve these segments of life int he best interest of children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The session on 16th December was opened by the minister of justice, Dr. Judit Varga. In her opening speech the minister defined family as the corestone of the policy of the government, as the most important fabric of our coexistence and cohesion. The minister underlined as well, that due codification is of key importance to achieve the accomplishment of children\u2019s rights together and the effective implementation of the relevant legal regulations, all based on the principle of the best interest of the child. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Academics and international and national professionals of children\u2019s rights gave lectures in line with the triple categorisation of children\u2019s right, namely in sections titled protection, provision and participation. The conference was accompanied by an exhibition of graphic and verbal refections of children concerning children\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
