{"id":1454,"date":"2023-05-22T12:34:45","date_gmt":"2023-05-22T11:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mfi.gov.hu\/the-echr-at-70-the-central-european-narrative\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T13:49:42","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T12:49:42","slug":"the-echr-at-70-the-central-european-narrative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mfi.gov.hu\/en\/the-echr-at-70-the-central-european-narrative\/","title":{"rendered":"The ECHR at 70: The Central European Narrative"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To mark the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the Central European Academy and the Ferenc M\u00e1dl Institute of Comparative Law are organizing a scientific international conference in Budapest on <strong>2023. 15-16 June 2023 <\/strong><strong><em>\u201cThe ECHR at 70: The Central European Narrative\u201c<\/em><\/strong>, to which you are cordially invited.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ECHR entered into force on 3 September 1953, and since then, Europe has gone through countless changes and faced scores of challenges: Environmental problems, the changes of regime in post-socialist States, the conquest of the internet, migration, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war etc. No wonder, in the era of ever evolving societies, one might easily raise the question: How can a 70-year-old convention provide effective protection for human rights and how can it still work as a living instrument?
