In 2023 there will be 175 years since the enactment of the so-called April Laws in Hungary (1848), which gave the foundations of the modern state.

As a consequence, the Legal History Subcommittee of Section IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Legal History Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised an international conference in English on 5 April 2023 in Budapest entitled “175 Years of the April Laws – Fundamental Legal Transformations in 1848 and the Spring of Nations”.
