On 7 June 2024, the Central European Academy will organise a conference entitled “Instruments for preserving the unity of family businesses and agricultural assets – perspectives of legal history”.

he conference analysing the situation of the code of substantive criminal law of November of 2022 in the ceremonial hall of the Hungarian Surpreme Court.

The University of Miskolc Central European Academy (CEA) and the Ferenc Mádl Institute respectfully invite you as part of the 2022 autumn conference series of the Central European Professor Network coordinated by the CEA on November 15 2022 in the building of the Central European Academy in Budapest (Budapest, Városmajor utca 12 .) for the legal conference entitled ‘Nation, state and sovereignty’.

On 15-16 December, 2022, the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law, together with the Hungarian Association of Comparative Law, the Society for Children’s Rights within the framework of Children’s Rights Day convened a two-day conference on international children’s rights, which took place at the Sapientia College of Theology. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child introducing the definition of the child into the discourse about children’s rights formed the backbone of the conference. The conference was accompanied by an exhibition of graphic and verbal refections of children concerning children’s rights.

In 2023 there will be 175 years since the enactment of the so-called April Laws in Hungary (1848), which gave the foundations of the modern state.

As a consequence, the Legal History Subcommittee of Section IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Legal History Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised an international conference in English on 5 April 2023 in Budapest entitled “175 Years of the April Laws – Fundamental Legal Transformations in 1848 and the Spring of Nations”

In 2023 there will be 175 years since the enactment of the so-called April Laws in Hungary (1848), which gave the foundations of the modern state.

As a consequence, the Legal History Subcommittee of Section IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Legal History Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised a Hungarian-language conference on 17-18 April 2023 entitled “175 years of the April Laws – the foundation of modern Hungary”.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the introduction of the Hungarian Civil Code, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Central European Academy and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law are organising an international conference entitled “Codification of Civil Law: Assessment, Reforms, Options” on 18-19 May 2023.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the Central European Academy and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised a scientific international conference in Budapest on 15-16 June 2023 on “The ECHR at 70: The Central European Narrative“.

The Central European Academy and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised an international conference “Maastricht 30”, which will take place in Budapest in 2023.

The Central European Professors’ Network, consisting of five research groups, launched its activities on 1 January 2022 to conduct research on a great variety of issues with regard to seven Central European countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia). The Professors’ Network organises events with the primary aim to draw attention of the European citizens to the topics which are important and significant in connection with the future of Europe, in particular of Central Europe. 

On 19-20 October 2023, the Central European Academy will organize the “Migration Challenges – Legal Responses in General Terms” conference in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Miskolc, Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law and the Central European Association for Comparative Law.
