Children’s Rights Days

On 15-16 December, 2022, the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law, together with the Hungarian Association of Comparative Law, the Society for Children’s Rights within the framework of Children’s Rights Day convened a two-day conference on international children’s rights, which took place at the Sapientia College of Theology. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child introducing the definition of the child into the discourse about children’s rights formed the backbone of the conference. The conference was accompanied by an exhibition of graphic and verbal refections of children concerning children’s rights.

In 2023 there will be 175 years since the enactment of the so-called April Laws in Hungary (1848), which gave the foundations of the modern state.

In 2023 there will be 175 years since the enactment of the so-called April Laws in Hungary (1848), which gave the foundations of the modern state.

As a consequence, the Legal History Subcommittee of Section IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Legal History Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law organised a Hungarian-language conference on 17-18 April 2023 entitled “175 years of the April Laws – the foundation of modern Hungary”.

The Central European Professors’ Network, consisting of five research groups, launched its activities on 1 January 2022 to conduct research on a great variety of issues with regard to seven Central European countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia). The Professors’ Network organises events with the primary aim to draw attention of the European citizens to the topics which are important and significant in connection with the future of Europe, in particular of Central Europe.
