On 28 May 2021, the International Scientific Conference entitled “Religious symbols in the public sphere in the legal orders of Central and Eastern European countries” took place in Warsaw, which was organised within the Central European Professors’ Network 2021 by the Institute of Justice in Warsaw, in cooperation with the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law and the European Association for Comparative Law.

The event was organized by the Institute of Justice, Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law, Central European Comparative Law Association and the Scientific Circle of Criminal Procedure of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

The Oxford Debate was organized within the framework of the Central European Professors’ Network 2021.

The International Scientific Conference “The impact of digital platforms and social media on freedom of expression and pluralism – view of young researchers” took place in Warsaw, which was organised within the Central European Professors’ Network 2021 by the Scientific Circle of Criminal Procedure of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and the Institute of Justice in Warsaw, in cooperation with the Ferenc Madl Institute of Comparative Law and the European Association for Comparative Law.

The conference entitled ‘Protection of family in the legal system’ was organised as part of the Central European Professors’ Network 2021 event. The conference aimed to provide comprehensive and up-to-date insights into the issue of the legal protection of families in the Central European region.

The conference entitled ‘Interpretation of fundamental rights in the practice of the constitutional courts of Central and Eastern Europe’ was organised as part of the Central European Professors’ Network (CEPN) 2021 event by the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law, the Central European Association for Comparative Law and the Hungarian Association for Comparative Law.

The aim of the online conference was to explore how national ordinary courts, constitutional courts, supreme courts, or international courts, especially the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ), apply and interpret fundamental rights in civil cases.

On 5 May 2021, the Information Society Research Institute of the University of Public Service delivered an online workshop to discuss the manuscript ‘The regulation of social media platforms in Hungary’. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the regulation of social media platforms such as Facebook in Hungary and highlights dilemmas that may arise from the modernisation—or the lack thereof—of the platform.

The webinar that was planned and organized as a dissemination event of the research carried out within the framework of the Central European Professors’ Network coordinated by the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law gathered master and doctoral students as well as teaching staff from two faculties (more than 30 participants) to discuss various relevant issues concerning social media, freedom of expression and its restrictions in democratic societies.

On Thursday, May 20 2021, at 5 pm, a round table ‘Regulation of inappropriate speech on social networks’ is held on the Zoom platform. The convening of the round table was encouraged by the research on the legal regulation of the freedom of expression on social networks carried out within the framework of the Central European Professors’ Network coordinated by the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law.

On the occasion of the 10th year anniversary of the Hungarian Criminal Code, the conference regarding the achievements of the code of substantive criminal law took place on the 8th and 9th of November of 2022 in the ceremonial hall of the Hungarian Surpreme Court. Besides the development of the national criminal law, topics like the current criminal law issues of the neighboring countries and the newest criminological tendencies in Central Europe were introduced. The quality of the event was raised by the outstanding actors of the national and international scientific community and the prominent representatives of the Hungarian public sector.

The Ministry of Justice and the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law are organising a high-profile international conference on 21 June 2021 in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
The conference consists of three thematic panel discussions.
