Absztrakt

A véleménynyilvánítás szabadságát és az ahhoz kapcsolódó részletszabályokat az Egyesült Királyságban – az Emberi Jogok Európai Egyezményével (a továbbiakban Egyezmény) összhangban – az emberi jogokról szóló 1998. évi törvény (Human Rights Act) tartalmazza. A véleményalkotás és az információk, eszmék megismerésének és közlésének szabadságát is magában foglaló szabadság gyakorlása az Egyezmény által meghatározott célokból alakszerűségeknek, feltételeknek, korlátozásoknak vethető alá, illetőleg adott esetben ahhoz szankciók rendelhetők. Ennek megfelelően, a véleménynyilvánítás szabadsága korlátozható például mások jó hírnevének vagy más (személyhez fűződő) jogainak védelme céljából.
